Collect in blood gas syringe containing only calcium-titrated (balanced) heparin or dry lithium heparin as the anticoagulant for gases and electrolytes

Dispel air, cap immediately

Roll syringe between your palms and gently invert it serveral times to mix the sample thoroughly

Place in Bio-Hazard bag, put barcode in side pouch. 

Deliver ASAP to BLOOD GAS LAB

• sample can optionally be placed ON ICE
